Frequently Asked Questions
-
What are the signs that my roof needs repair?- Missing shingles. - Seeing water leaking from gutters, soffits, ceiling - water stains on ceiling or around light fixtures After a big rain, wind, or hail storm. - During a snow thaw, especially during chinooks. - If we’ve had a big storm and you are concerned about your roof leaking, it may be time to get an inspection.
-
What are the signs that my roof needs replacement?- Aged shingles or it has been 15 – 20 years since last roof replacement. - Cracked or curling shingles, granules in gutter and downs spouts – granules on patios, decks or outdoor furniture.
-
What kind of payment options are available?- We accept cash, cheque, e-transfer, certified cheques, and credit card. - We have financing options available through our partner – 'Finance It', that provides payment plans which are dependent on pre-approval.
-
How to choose the right shingles for you?- This depends on how long you will be in your home, with roofs lasing between 35– 45 years, depending on the quality of the shingles. - Certain qualities of your home may merit using a better product: ▪️Low slope roofs have a larger chance of leaking due to sitting water, a higher quality shingle might be necessary to avoid potential leaks. ▪️ Areas with high wind levels benefit from higher quality shingles, with reinforced and larger nailing strips reducing chances of missing or loose shingles. ▪️Homes with older roof decks could also benefit from shingles with a larger nailing strip in order to avoid the cracks between the wooden boards of the roof deck. - Premium shingles have more colour variations and options, and regular shingles are more limited in what they offer. All this depends on what you want the end product to look like and the tones of your home are something to consider. Also, whether you want to stand out or be more cohesive with your neighbors.
-
How often should I get my roof inspected? We recommend getting your roof inspected every five years, with more frequent inspections of older roofs. Regular inspections help identify potential issues early on which prevents costly repairs down the line.
-
Roof-Ex warranty VS Manufacturer warranty- Roof-Ex offers a minimum five-year warranty, that covers any issues that may come from improper installation. - Manufacturers warranty depends on the life of the shingles, which averages 35-45 years. Issues and defects are dealt directly with the manufacturer.
-
What is the life expectancy of shingles and roofs?- A large factor in the life expectancy depends on the quality of shingles you choose. A higher quality shingle correlates to longer life expectancy. - Another factor depends on proper installation of underlayments. - Ensuring that your attic is properly ventilated, which is generally an issue with older homes. - We will advise you of any issues we find in order to maximize the lifetime of any shingles we install.
-
How is clean-up handled during and after your roof replacement or repair? We take debris cleanup seriously and ensure a thorough job after completing the roofing project. Our team will remove all leftover materials, shingles, and any debris generated during the installation or repair process. We leave your property clean and tidy, as if we were never there.
